Position Overview: Responsibilities include researching and providing content and imagery for large web portal requiring daily upkeep. You will need to generate ideas for compelling content, including writing content on occasion and creating feeds. You will need to publish content so would need to have an understanding of Content Management Systems as well as Intellectual Property Rights concerns.
Responsibilities:
•Prepare and edit copy for publication on the web portal.
•Verify all information, such as statistics, dates and facts, using standard reference sources.
•Understand issues surrounding user experience, accessibility and information architecture.
Edit and optimize content to enable readability and search engine optimisation.
Source images and artwork, and commission photographic or video works to enhance user experience.
Manage blogs, forums, wikis and other forms of user-generated content.
Set schedules and deadlines for the publication and archiving of information and news on the portal.
Develop editorial, copyright, data protection policies as well as best practices related to the portal and all content therein.
Create and manage an in-house content management system (CMS) and
Liase with internal departments to ensure policies and procedures of the organization are maintained.
Advise the management team regarding best practices in web publishing.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements (Specific to Role):
Detailed knowledge of GCC area especially UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Writing for the web (links, keywords).
Web research and reporting experience.
Technical knowledge of web publishing (PHP, MYSQL).
Prior experience with web content editing and delivery.
Have a good understanding of copyright and data protection laws
Experience using common design software (Photoshop, Illustrator)
Candidate must be able to submit a portfolio of work demonstrating web copywriting and editing abilities.
Requirements (General):
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Arabic, with Arabic being the preferred native language.
Ability to meet deadlines and plan short- and long-term projects.
Excellent attention to detail.
Able to multitask and prioritize work schedules.
Excellent writing skills.
Good understanding of grammar, punctuation, and spelling, in English and Arabic.
